What is a kids' cotton teepee?
A children's teepee is a free-standing fabric tent on four pine poles that turns a corner of a bedroom, nursery or playroom into a private reading den. Ours stand about 170 cm tall with a 120–130 cm base, are made from 100% OEKO-TEX cotton canvas on untreated pine, assemble in around five minutes without tools and suit children aged 3 and up. A cotton teepee is the floor-standing centrepiece of a reading nook — four solid wooden poles, a natural cotton cover and a doorway a child can pull closed. Unlike a pop-up play tent, a teepee is built to be calm: the fabric is unbleached or softly coloured rather than printed, the ceiling is high enough to sit up under, and there is nothing inside making a noise. That is what makes it a reading tent rather than a play tent. Ours are handmade, use natural cotton and untreated timber, and fold flat in about a minute when the bedroom floor is needed for something else. Add a mat, two cushions and a set of warm fairy lights and you have a corner children choose to go to on their own — which is the only test that really matters.

A canopy hangs above and uses no floor space, so it usually wins in a box room. Choose a teepee when you have a corner to spare and want a proper enclosed den a child can close the door on.
Is a teepee the same as a play tent?+
No. A teepee is calm and neutral by design — quiet fabric and space to lie down. A pop-up play tent is bright and stimulating. Both are lovely; they just encourage very different behaviour.
